Curtain Call
I stand upon the stage of life
begging for acknowledgement
of my performance.
The applause never comes.
I am met with apathetic stares.
The curtain falls.
I play the script out with
exact precision.
However, I yearn to create
my own manuscripts.
I wish to create characters
that I might delight in playing.
I wish to applaud my own
performance not seeking out
the accolades of others.
